about

One of the first signings to the then fledgling AnalogueTrash label way back in 2014, alternative electronic outfit Vain Machine have a signature sound that features dirty-driving bass lines, sweeping pads, razor sharp leads and rhythmic electronic percussion. That shines through on the band’s new single Trust You – a cover of the classic track from British synthpop band Mesh – and Vain Machine’s first release since March’s Disconnect EP.

Drawing inspiration from electronic and industrial based music such as Nitzer Ebb and KMFDM, among others, the band’s sound is brooding at times, often perfect for the alternative dancefloor, but always full of emotion and honesty.

Nothing if not eclectic, the Yucca Valley based outfit, helmed by Omar Quiñones, has interspersed original releases with cover versions that might initially seem surprising choices, but once heard make complete sense. In the past, that has involved the Vain Machine magic being applied to I Was Made For Lovin' You by KISS and Invisible by Skylar Grey.

Omar had this to say about the inspiration for applying the Vain Machine magic to the song:

“I had grown up listening to the airwaves of the famous KROQ radio station in Los Angeles which blasted synth pop idols Depeche Mode, New Order, OMD and many others during the mid-80's. I felt such a strong connection to these bands, the impact of these artists strongly shaped my love for electronic music.

In early 2000 I was introduced to the Bristol based band Mesh where I quickly embraced them. During my paths of discovering new music, Mesh was one band I can say I always looked forward to hearing their releases.

Trust You resonated with me, along with others which in some way became part of my life soundtrack. A constant drift towards those artists where I felt I can truly connect with. This particular song was one in which I did not deviate much from its original form. Message or not, it is a song anyone can relate to in that realm where trust is an issue amongst the closest of acquaintances.”
